I was asked to create a solo to synergize with the success of Zaratustra, to get Carlotta’s name more widely-known. This work was created in Belgium and based on the prototype of “Utt” —U comes from unagi (eel)—which premiered at Sougetsu Hall in 1980. It was also a hit. Then in 1985, I was invited for a new work by Ariadone at Montpellier Dance Festival: a new, glass-themed work “Hime,” which I presented as a director and choreographer myself.
