This is what it means to be a “living dead body”

Ko Murobushi

Ko Murobushi started creating “Nijinski à minuit” in February 2015 in preparation for its first performance at la Villette, Paris. Although this production was never completed due to Murobushi’s sudden passing in June soon after, we can catch a glimpse of his concept from the related texts that he left behind. The themes of “outside” and “zero degree” written in his notes are tied to Mallarme and Nietzsche’s ideas of the “midnight.”

After five years, we decided to start up this project again.

What do these ideas revolving around “midnight,” bring us today?

The first session is the continuation of the conversation at the symposium “Ko Murobushi and ‘Fierce Unworking’ ,” with the second session comprising of the creation of “Nijinski à minuit” choreography by Bernardo Montet.
