I saw Ko performing for the first time in Impulstanz festival in Vienna in 2011. He left a strong impression on me since his every movement was filled with meaning and it seemed as if all his life experience was speaking through his body. His performance was raw and honest and I was intrigued to get to know him.
I was more than happy to work with Ko in CND in Paris on a creation “Nijinsky a Minuit” in 2015. His approach to the choreographic process was generous and was encouraging individual exploration in relation to the others and the world.
Ko was one of the most humble artists that I have met and I was deeply shocked by his death. I decided to join “Responding to Ko” project because I felt the need to make something as a response to the creation that we had started and stayed unfinished. This project gives an opportunity to experiment having as references the experience from the creation process of “Nijinsky a Minuit” and Ko’s Archive. I’m very grateful for the possibility to travel to Ko’s motherland and to make a research based on his archive.
