Description

Although there were no major changes from the first performance, the rehearsal space in Sanno, Ohta-ku (rented from the residence of soprano singer Yoshiko Furusawa, one of the pioneers of Japanese opera) was overflowing with equipment from the first performance and could no longer accommodate it. Since Dairakudakan moved to Toyotama, the Sanno rehearsal space was being maintained by Sebi Ariadne and Sankai Juku. The music was also partially changed. It was a huge production that required as much time and effort as possible to procure materials for the props, make them, bring them in on the day of the performance, perform using them, take them out, and clean up afterwards, which had to be done quickly. The more I look back, the more I am deeply moved by the fact that we were able to put on such a spectacle at Sogetsu Hall, which is not exactly a large theater.
