Description

Murobushi and Natsuyuki Nakanishi had a long and deep friendship; they saw each other frequently—on occasion to have a drink, as they were both located in the Sanno North Exit area of the Keihin Tohoku line’s Omori station, with Murobushi’s rehearsal hall in Sannoh, Ota district and Nakanishi’s house in Umagome, in the same district. The venue of this performance was also around Omori station, and once served as a rehearsal hall for Ariadone. Back when his rehearsal hall was in Sannoh, the hall was also a dormitory for members of Ariadone. Murobushi and Carlotta terminated the lease of that hall in Sannoh since they were spending more time outside of Japan in the early 1980s. Tatsumi Hijikata, who mediated between their friendship, attended this performance, and many past friends and acquaintances gathered with elation at the after-party. Along with them were young talents such as Hisateru Matsuura—a poet and French literature scholar, currently a writer—and Hisao Matsuura, a new painter and art critic at the time. Murobushi would learn a lot from his friendship with these young men. The series “In” that was produced in 1959-1960 is Nakanishi’s early work.
